Ford 4610 Hydraulic problem

Post by Gavin »

I am having problems with the hydraulics on my 4610. The lift arms ( also loader and spools) lift very slowly and judder as if there is low oil level (it is full). Not sure what it will lift currently but it will still lift the pickup hitch with a trailer on. The oil filter was changed a few months ago. Not sure if it is pump, relief valve or pick up issues. I have also noticed that the lift arms drop when the tractor is parked up. I have noticed over the last couple of years that the lift capacity of the loader is not as good as it used to be. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello yijin,

Am I right to think you live in Zeeland?
Welcome to the forum. But I think you put your answer in the wrong topic.

I gues we have to be very patience with Mark.
Kind regards, Henk

Hi,

Not quite sure how the 4610 hydraulics are in detail, but my first gues would be:
clogged intake screen, clogged filters, engine mounted pumps needs bleeding, or a sticky unload valve.

Maybe this can help you in the right direction http://www.gbfoot.co.uk/downloadfolder/Ford3cylPTO.pdf

Thanks Emiel.
The pump is transmission mounted and I am led to believe that there is no intake screen and filters have been changed. I have changed the pressure relief valve with no success and have a replacement pump waiting to be fitted but due to moving to a new farm I have not had the time to spend doing further investigation. I do have a full set of the 000 series and 10 series Ford manuals but unfortunately without test equipment and time there help is limited.

Have finally changed the pump and all is now working fine. Haven't really done enough with it to see how much weight it will lift but it is working.
