I need to purchase some headlight bulbs for Dexta and Majors

Post by Miles »

Anyone have a good source? They do not seem to be available anywhere on my side of the pond.

I also need a few other bits...so if you have a favorite supplier, please let me know (you can email me if you don't want names published)

Thanks

Miles

Hello Miles,

As I am not in your neck of the woods I can't recomend anybody close to you, but I found a place in England thats mainly for motorbikes that carrys a lot of vintage bulbs. Me being in Australia meant that I had to mail order as you would, and I was very happy with their service. Their web address is: http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffystandardbulbs.htm They do quartz halogen replacements as well if you want more light at less watts too and they also do a range of headlight lens and reflector sets that are odd sizes as well. I got some 6 1/2" diameter lenses and reflectors to fit my E27N headlights from them.

Regards, Frank.

I use the same place to get bulbs for my Power Major. Good old fashion reliable, and Honest service.

New Holland did offer them, but the price was about $36 US a piece. This supplier is much more reasonable. :) Dandy Dave!

Thanks gentlemen...I will email the supplier tomorrow and order some.

Can anyone confirm the wattage required...from the pics the style is BA15d

One of my dexta bulbs shows 36/24 but I am pretty sure the majors were 50/40

Hi Miles,

I would stick to the 36/24 watt. If you want more light go for the Quartz Halogen replacements. Just remember most Majors only had 11 amp generators and 100 watts for a pair of 50 watt lights would draw at least 8 amps and leave very little left for anything else.

Regards, Frank.

Hi Miles,

Correct globes for the E27N are 12 volt 36/36. For the New Major 36/24.
