I am looking for a spring (or two) for a Rest -O-Ride seat. They are riveted but it doesn't seems to be a problem to cut Rivets.
To the contrary of what many people can think the damping effect of the seat is not intirely taken by the rubber blocks as the seat pan is totaly resting on the two curved pieces of metal. They must absorb the travel of the arms and therefore are made of spring steel which cannot be welded for repair.

I have seen them ,but I was not 100% sure that they would fit because they are not advertised as suitable for a fordson seat.I asked the vendor to have the dimensions but got no reply. Anyway ,without the springs this is useless.

Try an Oliver tractor site, as the Rest O Ride was common also on 1950's and 60's olivers. I know the rubbers are available as I saw some repros being installed on an Oliver seat just last year. Dandy Dave!

Re: REST-O-RIDE seat . Parts wanted
Made a trip to a MAN collector in Belgium last weekend and saw two MAN diesel tractors with a Ford R_O_R seat.
Hope to buy one very soon. If you turn the seat on the chassis you can mount it on a New Major.
I did not know that those parts were spring steel.

Another thought, we have several places here that make replacement leaf springs for trucks and automobiles. I even had some springs made for several D2 Caterpillar tractors at one time that were no longer available, and the price was very reasonable. I bet there is one near you that could make the spring and temper it properly for a reasonable price. Dandy Dave!
