Hi does anyone have an oil pump pick up pipe for the oil pump on a Super Major?

Hi Paul, just left you a message on the new major forum. The one I have is from a 1957/58 Major.Millwall Paul wrote:Hi does anyone have an oil pump pick up pipe for the oil pump on a Super Major?

How much would you want for the pick up pipe including shipping to the UK England please? Also do you have any pictures you could send me please so that I could compare it to my old one please?

Hi Paul, the pipe I have is from a Major. I don't know what engine you have in a SM. I believe this is an early 1958 block I have, I'll get the seriel # and a picture of the pipe. I don't know what the pipe would be worth but shipping to the UK I'm told is expensive. Because the shape & size of the pipe I'm not sure if it would fit in one of the USPS standard boxes. I will get you pictures of it and try to find out shipping options based on its size and weight. Let me know if you have any recomemdations on who to use with shipping. Read my post on here about shipping cost and I'm told there are other fees from the UK.Millwall Paul wrote:Hi Gman

Hi Paul. Pictures of the pipe.

It has rust, I blew air through it with a compressor and seems ok. It will need cleaning before use.

The CNH site shows one pick up tube from '52 to '57, and a different one from '57 on. The pick up screen changed about that time, so it may have something to do with that. If Gman's engine is a '58, his pick up tube should fit Paul's Super, according to that info.
Do you know the engine number Gman?

I bought a second hand engine oil pump with pick up pipe once, and I got them to cut the pick up pipe in half. Decreased the parcel size down the oil pump size.
In your case, cutting it in half would drastically reduce physical size. Just weld the 2 halves back together later.
My one has been going great guns for about 6 years now, no worries.

Thanks for the idea Kev. Shipping outside US seems to be expensive. Is the oil pump difficult to remove? I took the bottom plate off thinking these screws held it in place but I could see the gears that I guessed pumped the oil so replaced quickly before something came loose and popped out. I plan to keep the pump for future should I need it, can the oil pump be rebuilt?Kiwi Kev wrote:I bought a second hand engine oil pump with pick up pipe once, and I got them to cut the pick up pipe in half. Hi JC, the number on the block is 1427710. I believe part changed around 4/1/1957 or 1958. Part number I found on New Holland site is 81717806.JC wrote:The CNH site shows one pick up tube from '52 to '57, and a different one from '57 on. Your engine is an Apr. 1957, Mk2 engine. The pick up screen and oil pump changed with engine number 1425097 ( when the MK 2 engine was introduced), also in Apr. '57. I would bet that the pick up tube was changed then, too. I have a MK 3 engine apart, right now, but not a MK 1, so I can't compare them to see what the difference is.
