I am searching for parts for a ford industrial dorset 254 c.i. diesel 4 cylinder that has the same block # that you posted (T2-703F-6015AAA). Are you selling by chance? Or looking yourself? I may be interested in parts (crankshaft specifically).

Hi tm40
Sorry about delay in replying ,been away for several wks.
The engine is going into an old coles crane, replacing a very old 4d which had issues with porosity in liners or block or both even though it ran sweet. I don't know if the cranks are similar.

Hi all
Ive just taken a ford 4d engine out of a 1956ish Coles crane 2712e going in.
The old engine has a sump with a cast lug with a hole about 1inch to 1-1/4 inches thru it.
The head has a decompression lever on it. also it has a starting handle facility on the end of the crankshaft.
I think it could have been a tractor engine at some time, any ideas anyone.

the 4d sounds like an early major engine.
Does the throttle linkage go through the engine block itself?
How many studs on the cover plate of the injector pump? 4 or 8
Is injector pump vertical or leaning in towards the engine?
How wide is the fan belt 1/2" or 3/4"?
If there's a number on the casting above the starter motor check it out in the reference pages.

Hi Neilarmo.
The throttle linkage dosent go thru the block, cover plate has 8 studs assuming that's the plate at the rear of the pump, the pump seems to lean towards the engine, forgot about fan belt.
The only numbers on starter side block are M3
1 2
On pump side numbers are E1A DDN 6015 G
0H6

Hi all.
Stripped the old 4D.
The crank, pump, and head are OK. The engine suffered from porosity(Liners Im told). The engine is complete except for starter and fly wheel, so its up for offers.
