Wanted: Scrap Inlet Valves

For a non-tractor related project. As long as they are not bent or severely burnt, I am interested. So if you have done a recent valve or head replacement and would otherwise be binning them, it would be great if you could send them my way, preferably for just the cost of postage and maybe a little for your time. Looking to collect a minimum of 8, maybe more.

Many thanks in advance.

Sorry, we do have valves but don't want to loose them, haven't got enough anyway. What's this for? Sounds like an unusual and interesting idea.

Buffers for a miniature railway.

Pretty good idea, you'll need to get them rounded a bit to avoid poor contact (and well greased). Are the exhaust valves a bit wee? (thinking about buffer locking) If not I see potential advantages with the square collets, mainly strength. Have the same issues with exhaust valves too.

I think the exhaust valves would be a bit too small, which is why I am only after inlet valves. It is for 5 inch gauge, which is about as small as you can sensibly go and still carry passengers safely, so at 43mm or so diameter they should be about right.

Scale wise I find them a bit big but not going to say more. I think I've seen people riding on 3 1/2" gauge, but it's a different setup. Old springs and collets could be useful too, along with homemade spring retainers.
