TS59?

Post by Matt 1944 N »

I have recently purchased a 4 furrow Ransomes plough, I think it is a TS59 but then there are variations on the 59 as well eg a TS59N, TS59R etc. Does anyone know what the differences are

That does not look like a TS59 to me. Headstock looks wrong and more like a TS54.
However I could be wrong as the TS59Z was made with cat.1 for the Super Dexta

i agree with brian it looks nothing like a TS59 or a TS54,
i have a TS54 and the headstock is differant and the TS54 is a Ransomes Robin.

This plough is a Ransomes Heron TS73

Bodies FRDCP furrow width 10 or 12 " max working depth 9"

My leaflet is dated July 1955

A later leaflet from April 1959 marks it as TS73A

The 73 was designed as a lighter plough than the 59 with the same style of legs. The 70 series normally had legs that were part of the frame.

It was designed for the 1952 Fordson Major which could be fitted with a pre-set linkage, thats why it does not have a depth wheel. The original versions had the FRDC bodies but later versions could have YL or EPIC bodies.

In 1955, a two furrow version, the TS72 was introduced as a general purpose plough for the Ferguson range.
