3pt hitch drawbar adapter

i want to make a drawbar adaptor for the 3pt hitch. are these leagal on the road?

i wish to make something like the picture but do they put too much strain on the link arms of a dexta? i cant find a resonably priced solution to my missing drawbar.

I think I would be worried about going down hill with that as the load would tend to push the arms up if you had them in a level position. and that could upset the tractor. Lets see what the others think? Dandy Dave!

john.n, you would be better off and safer to get/use a standard drawbar especially if you are going to shift loads of a reasonable weight.Personally I would not use a drawbar adaptor for the 3 point hitch with a trailer or for towing.TSG.

Nice thing to move caravan trailers or something like that, but i would not dare to pull aload on the road with it.
The side strenght on the lift arms and chains is not correct and your lift arms will go up at a time do don't want to.

i have been really stuck with fiding a drawbar. havent found one at a resonable price. not a major issue yet, got to get road registered first.

Around these parts Dexta's and their draw bars, if it is the mounted swing bar you want, are SCARCE. I have 2 Dexta's that were missing draw bar parts. I found that both the MF 35, and the old Ford 600, 800, 900 and up fit exactly. One I have the MF 35 swing box, the other has a Chi/com Ford replacement box and draw bar. The Chi/com cost me $80.

Ferguson produced a 9 hole drawbar which attached between the lift arm eyes. The stabiliser arms went back up to the 3pt attachment point on the tractor so the arms could not move up and down.

Hi John,

I'm not sure about a Dexta, but on a SuperMajor it works fine, as long as the loads aren't that heavy.
And it could help emptying a non-tipping trailer, by using the lift.

I have seen a solution like yours, but to prevent the lift arms to go up, they mounted the upper point of your drawbar to the point, where the top linkage is attached to the rear end.

It's a pity, that some parts are really hard to find. I had the same
problem finding a upper towing hook for my Super.
But I found it eventually.

Now I am searching for wheel wheights and front weights...quite hard to find around here..

You can use the lift and the special drawbar if you install following parts :
STAY Drawbar Lower : 957E4375-C
STAY Drawbar Upper LH : 957E-5374-C
STAY Drawbar Upper RH : E563-T-9
(plus the pins and bolts to keep them together)

This avoids the drawbar from being lifted upwards when the trailer is tipping.
