NZ 4000Y and 3000Y

Post by The Swanndri Guy »

At last,I've sort of figured out how to get pictures onto the forum. Both tractors are from 1970, with the 4000 at about 10000hrs and the 3000 at about 7000 hours Both are in active service.Spent many hours working on the 3000, and it still look as bad as when I got it.The 4000 has a 7.5m Wilders on the back, for use in the "liquid organic fertiliser holding facility". :yeah: TSG

Good photos. Did you have any trouble loading them on.
I remember walking around that "liquid organic fertiliser holding facility". Almost exactly 1 year ago today.

"Now thats a real tractor!"Who said that? Considering I've got three tractors built over 40 years ago, I really needed one new tractor four years ago and since CNH only had Fiat based tractors, with a soft spot for Volvo BM, Valmet/Valtra tractors, I wanted a tractor with a Sisu engine with about 90 horsepower, so I got Valtra 900 ROPS with Alo loader :yeah: .(Hows that Pascal?)

They are really good tractors, well designed and powerful.

Gearboxes are super expensive when they give trouble though. My neighbor sold one very cheaply when he had problems, the cost of replacement was more than the tractor was worth.

Hi Swandri Guy.

I like the look of that pump, I could do with something similar maybe a little smaller. Is it driven from the PTO? Is it a bespoke item?

Thanks

Chug-A-Lug,the effluent pump is made by "Rovatti" in Italy, this one will pump upto 70m/3 per hour. They also do PTO water pumps from 15m/3 to 1000m/3 as well. The stirrer as somewhat different/"bespoke".Having used other stirrers we had some problems, too short, vibrating and quite often the universal joint on the PTO shaft having a 25 to 30 degree bend.If you look at the pictures where the boom pivots, the yellow driveshaft with the univeral joints is actually set up as a CV joint. If I had a hydraulic top link, then the driveshaft from the tractor to the stirrer can also be set up as a CV joint as well.End result is that the stirrer is 7.5m long, can go a long way down, and operate smoothly with two CV joints between the tractor and the impeller in the effluent pond.Stirrer requires the best part of 50 horsepower as well. Can anyone guess what machine contributed doner parts for the fabricaction of the stirrer??? :run: TSG.

Another picture of the 900 at work.
Tractor trivia,The Valtra 900, has a Sisu 4.4 litre engine, (120 mm stroke, 108mm bore) with turbo, rated at 85 hp net at PTO.Driveshaft from the clutch to the gearbox/diff assembly goes through the diesel tank.Hydraulic's are separate to the gearbox/diff assembly, and are mounted on top of the gearbox/diff assembly.Gearbox, originally designed by Steyr is 12F/12R.
100 series Valtra's were built in Finland with radial tyres or in Brazil with Goodyear Dyna Torque's.Since this tractor come from Brazil, the engine is built by Valtra de Brasil Ltda, and has the cold start omitted, compared to 900 from Finland. :run: TSG.Image

Pascal, its all hydraulic, single acting ram to lift the bale and a hydraulic motor driving the chains to feed out. (Up and over towards the camera.) :) TSG.
