Which Transport Box

Post by BarryT »

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me whether a particular transport box was ever made for the dexta, pictures would be good. I'm looking for such a box to carry milk churns etc when I'm showing my Dexta.

Regards,

Good Q - I've wondered the same myself.

My father had a Twose box on our Dx in the early 70's. It was a tipper and I think 5ft wide, similar to this, but it had external plate stiffeners edge-welded on the out sides in the form of X-bracing:

Don't know how old it was when we got it. It was a good box with a tailgate that could pivot either top or bottom.

Only ever seen one other like it on ebay, but it was 6ft, too big for a Dx.

Re: Ransomes tipping transport box for Dexta

Just got this leaflet showing a Ransomes tipping box mounted on a Dexta.
Don't know its date but it talks of accommodating 8 - 10 milk churns, so it must be quite old.
5ft 10" wide which is quite wide for a Dexta, and 1/2ton capacity.
Tipping is achieved via a special top link.

one of thoes top links was on ebay few weeks ago, not sure if it sold. the hlf ton cappacity is interesting. I would have thought the front wheels would be in the air at half a ton.
