Mounted Disc Harrow for Dexta

Post by Bensdexta »

Is anyone using a mounted disc harrow behind their Dexta? If so, which one?

Gleened from various sources, I come up with the following Ransomes mounted discs as possible:

FR THR1005: 2x7 discs (20”dia) 9” apart, working width 5’ 3” but offsettable, weight (?). Leaflet lists this as being 'power matched' to Dexta. It looks similar to HR29.

FR HR29: 2x9 discs (18” or20” dia) spaced 9” apart, working width 6’ 9” but offsettable, weight 390kg. FR leaflet lists this as suitable for Ford 2000/3000 but is it a bit big/heavy for a Dexta?

FR HR31/76: 4x6 discs (18” or 20” dia) spaced 7” apart, working width 7’6”, weight 390kg. FR leaflet lists this as suitable for Ford 2000/3000 but is it too much for a Dexta?

Ford (USA) 201 Flexo-Hitch: 4x5 discs (18" dia), working width 6.5ft, weight 322kg. Leafet shows behind a Ford 3000. Too much for a Dexta?

Ford (USA) 202 Rigid-Frame: 4x5 discs (18" dia), working width 6.5ft, weight 266kg. Leafet shows behind a Ford 2000. Suitable for a Dexta?

I'll be working on hills, so wish to err on the safe side with a smaller set of discs.

The most available 2nd hand Ransomes discs seem to be the HR31/76, but is this too large/heavy for a Dexta?

I've not seen a 1005 on ebay yet. :(

What discs are folk using?
TIA
(PS will try to add some photos of the various models)

I recently used a Daniel Harvey 2x6 (20" discs) for primary tillage behind my super dexta for a potato plot. The Sd has front wheel weights and ballasted all round and weighs in at a shade over 2tons. Not sure of the weight of harrows but would estimate in the 300kg area.
