Hello All
I'm new on here, and to be honest I'm a classic car enthusiast rather than a tractor one, although I find any historic vehicle interesting. I have 3 early 80's Audis, one on the road, one dormant, and one donor.
Why have I joined?
I am looking for any information about the fate of (or, very longshot) hoping to find, a 1957 Fordson Major registered FP7766. It was owned by my Grandad in Leicestershire and was sold after his death in 1981. I know that by 1991 it was no longer licenced.
As a member of a very active Audi forum, I know the power and reach of members' extensive knowledge and contacts, and hope your forum might be similar; I would greatly appreciate any info or educated guesses, however partial, and would readily provide more info to verify the genuine nature of my enquiry if it becomes necessary.
Thank you in advance
Chris

Hi Henk
I can't sorry. I have no info on the tractor other than it's registration number, issued in Rutland in autumn 1957.
Do any other members know where this info might be matched?
Cheers

Re: Intro & seeking info
Hi Chris,
Just checked the DVLA registration database and the reg no is not there (I was amazed to find my Dad's '58 Major on it despite being off licence since the mid 1960's) so yours would not have been licenced at the time they went onto computer, which I suspect was at some point in the 1980's - all this implies is that it is not currently registered under its original number.
If there is a Register for Major's I have yet to find it, (looks like a start was made on one for the Dexta's) but without serial no (only as good as it retaining the original engine) or other identification, plus look at the number on Ebay alone being broken for spares even now, the chances of finding it are pretty slim.
Have you sent a letter in to the several vintage tractor magazines ? not everyone in the tractor game is e.enabled so there is a chance that someone might respond.
Happy hunting, time reveals much and lots of folk read these pages
