Insurance For Tools and Equipment

Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to how I go about insuring my tools and equipment away from the house. Ive recently aquired a workshop away from my house which my Dexta is stored in and currently restoring. Ive moved all my tools and equipment in to the workshop i.e. sandblaster ,compressor, hydraulic press, pedestal drill, my welders and plasma cutter and all my handtools. Direct Line who I have my buildings and content insurance with are not interested as they are away from the house and strangely enough wouldnt pay out a few years back when our garage was broken into and compressor and some tools as well as our motocross bikes were stolen. I called NFU who wont insure anything as it is not a business. I would like to try and get something sorted ASAP.

Browse a copy of Model Engineer or Model Engineers Workshop at your local library (Newsagent) as they have (had ? I no longer subscribe) specialist workshop insurers advertising, although what the position with a remote workshop might be I don't know.

Yes me too, unfortunately the scales seem weighed against defence of own Shark against bad dooers these days

It seems strange that the NFU are not interested, most farms have some tools and kit in locations other than close to the farm house. I can think of at least four farms in this village but I suppose they are businesses.

They are pushing private house insurance at the moment.

I tried NFU for my car and they could insure it, but only as I already had the Major insured with them, so perhaps its having a toe in the door which over rides their 'not pushing for this sort of business' of the moment.

Remote workshop is probably a no brainer for insurers who used to aet the premium to match the risk, now they set the premium to match the profit required and only insure minimal risk things

if you have home owners insurance now it should cover some of your personal Shark away for your home its a percentage of the home coverage like if your home was insured for 200,000 then you could have 20,000 in coverage. I know it late but someone might need the info later.
