question abot john deere

i am going to look at a 1980 jd 4440 tractor.
Does anyone know of any faults these machines had, apart from being green and yellow.

Cost and availability of parts as they get older. Diesel burners compared to NH, MF.
Electronics are good but very expensive if things go wrong.
We are suffering at the moment from burnout of components on equipment mounted on John Deere tractors. Possible overvoltage problems. These are with circuits that have been trouble free for over 15 years and the problem is John Deere tractors only.
Most of the farmers I know find they are a good ractor and a drivers tractor but you need shares in a bank if anything goes wrong.
