Anyone at the Shrewsbury Show on Sunday? Ann and I will be there. Hope the weather is like the last time we went.

The Brifield Road Run near Ludlow is on the 13th of July. This is a very enjoyable run (see story) and there MAY just be a surprise entry this year. :)

Hope you and Ann have a great time, Brian. Wish I could be there. You got me curious about the surprise entry, btw.

Had a great time on Sunday. Shrewsbury is a lovely show with a wide range of vehicles, parts and tractors. Lower attendance, we thought, this year but there were not many vintage cars and lorries but the tractor parade around the ring took nearly an hour and a half.

Some very nice tractor though. I will get some pictures up shortly but work is pressing as its the show season and I have some work to finish for the Cereals event and the Highland Show.

Ann and I are going to have to adopt a disguise in future as we are getting recognised at these events now. Must have been the Aus. Fordson Tractor Club shirt which I was proudly wearing. (Could also have been the kangaroo on a lead and the corks round the hat, Barry).

Greeting to all the new friends we met there and who came and spoke to us. The fame of this board is certainly spreading.

We picked up some absolute bargins between us too. MarkP found a new seat for his lorry and I found a complete original bonnet for Harriet (our TE20).

Could have built up a complete Forson Major tool kit from the tool stalls. There were all the spanners, pliers and screwdrivers available but no injector "L" spanners. The other items that I am looking for, the small diesel badge for the early Majors, was also hiding from me :( .

I am very disappointed with the quality of the badges and other items on offer. the side badges and nose cone badges are very rough and nasty looking compared with the originals.

Brian,

What a shame I missed you at Shrewsbury as I was there on Sunday, but I should have thought as we met last year at the show when you brought the top link for the Dexta that was left behind in your Disco when we made the transfer on the roadside.

Did you buy that Fergy bonnet for £35 seemed a good one. Good show but everyone seems to say the attendance is decreasing annually, some of the stall holders were feeling the pinch, one said he'd only made £15 in two days!!

Regards,

Barry

Hi Barry;
Where do you live in the Principality?
I'm on the North Pembrokeshire coast, 3 miles above Fishguard.

Barry,

Yes I bought that bonnet. It was a bargain. My TE20 has a loader and mine is very battered. Sorry I missed you. We were in the tractor area most of the morning.

Bit disappointed by the lack of Nuffields. There were more than that when Fordsons were the featured tractor. Not a single 4/65! On the other hand I had not seen as many P4's for many years.

David,

There are lots of pictures of Ann and I on the old site. There is also a thread which has pictures of many of our friends. Check them out in the "Whos Who" post in "Misc".

Brian,

Yes I had a good look at the bonnet and it seemed a bargain for that price. I was sat at the ring side for the duration when the tractors came in and also spent most of the day around the tractor area. It's the sort of place where your likely to see someone many times during the day, or not at all as in our case. Ah well there's always next year.

David,

I'm in Anglesey and therefore quite a distance away from you. I travelled down to Pembrokeshire quite a bit as part of my job a few years back. I stayed each time at a holiday complex at Stackpole not far from the tank firing range at Castle Martin. I only travelled a few times through Fishguard, my usual route took a shortcut over the Preseli mountains.

Regards,

Barry

David,
Try here http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/bbs This was where we were until we grew too large. Its worth a look as this site has not built up to its full potential yet as its still only a few months old.
