Agriline poor communication?

Is it me or do Agriline suffer from a communication problem?
I ordered a fan belt and exhaust weather cap on the weekend and phoned this morning to see when to expect delivery as I had thought I would have received them by now. I was told it would be next week as the weather cap is out of stock. Am I being unreasonable to expect an email to inform me of this fact and is this typical of them? :?
I only ordered from them to save myself going out this week to get a belt and the weather cap was just an extra spur of the moment decision.

When we are the purchaser, we all think that we are more important than anyone else. Human nature. Not directed at you Gavin.
When we are the seller, with 50 customers per day, we are trying to keep everyone happy.

In your case, a simple e-mail advising you of the delay would have taken only 2 mins.

When I order parts, I try to deal with one person, and know them by name. I phone or e-mail them and try to deal only with them.
On a one to one contact, I find I get better service.

Hope your parts arrive soon.

If you have a query I suggest you email ollystiley@agrilineproducts.com who is the boss and normally responsive.
It's holiday time now, so that probably isn't helping.
All the best,

Exactly, a quick e mail Monday morning and I would have said as I did today that the belt was urgent and the weather cap not. They are hoping to get the belt to me tomorrow as I need that for Saturday but now we are dependent on the post / courier so can only hope.

The fan belt arrived on Friday and was waiting for me when I got home. Saturday after lunch I went to fit it to find that it was the wrong one so I lost the weekends work. Last time I rely on Agriline for anything important. I may use them for non urgent items but I'm not certain at the moment as I will be looking for an alternative. Be interesting to see what they say when i phone later.

Well the saga continues.
When I phoned i was told that they do actually list another fan belt and they said they would send that out to me but would check first that it was in fact shorter than the previous one.
On wednesday I received 2 packages - one the fan belt and the other the rain cap. Today i went down to fit them and the fan belt is too short this time. The rain cap is also too small to fit so they will be getting another phone call and an email on Monday sugesting they give me a refund and I will go elsewhere.

I see they have a bunch of new parts on their website, which is now pretty comprehensive. Hope they are not getting ahead of themselves.

i ordered a re-build kit from agriline a while back, the engine parts themselves were quite good i think, however, when i came to putting the head back on with the head gasket from the kit, water leaked out of the head gasket. So back off it came, checked everything and ordered a new gasket from agriline (£15). When it arrived it was COMPLETELY different to the one in the kit. It was such better quality, for example there were brass rings around the water ways and it seemed thicker and more substantial, and did it leak, no it didnt! I have to say i wasnt impressed with that. The amount it costs them for a decent head gasket, you would think they would put it in the kit!
Rant over

Hi Just a quick thought on your problems with agriline and your wrong parts. Being a former resident of wales that used to sell properly reconditioned Majors most of the tractors that are still working are mungrel half breeds botched together to keep them going. well thats what I used to find when i bought them to re build  . Are you sure your tractor has the original dynamo fitted as car and tractor pulleys are different or does it have an alternator fitted as this can alter belt lenght to. Also does it have the original muffler on as this could also affect the size of the weather cap.
I know there can be problems with Agriline but It may not be all there fault if your tractor has non standard parts on it as well :) .
Regards Robert

Thanks for the reply and yes I am aware that many items get changed over the years but in the case of the fan belt the first one was so long that it would never tension however big the dynamo pulley and the second would not reach the centre shaft of the dynamo when pushed fully back against the engine so I don't think that is the issue. The rain cap I accept may be due to changed exhausts but I could modify that and it is not causing me a problem anyway as the tractor could still be useable without it (if it had a fan belt anyway :D )

Sometimes it is better working with a store in your neighbourhood : I just went to a local shop with my old fanbelt and asked if they had something that would fit. Came back home, fitted and it is still on the tractor. The Dexta Fan belt is nothing I considder as a "Fordson Dexta part", I have now a Contitech belt.

Ok no problem i guess thats another dart in the bullseye on the useless board for a certain company then. I got screwed around on a rev counter cable being too long but with the right ends for a pump drive super major. as you know im in canada and it is now a $50 mess up that will cost another $100 to sort, unless I can get the right one from north america . so Im probably worse off than you  . I would try Jos's sugestion for the belt and raincap good luck.
Regards Robert :)

I agree about using a local supplier and that is what I intend to do now. I only ordered from these idiots as it was a Sunday and I work monday to friday and would not need the belt until the following weekend. What a mistake!! 2 weeks later and still no usable parts

Gentlemen:
As the person who picks up the flak from suppliers, I am asking again that you do not name them publicly.

Having heard both sides of the original story I believe that sometimes, we do not help ourselves.

If you have a problem with a supplier TRY AND SORT IT OUT PRIVATELY!!! If you can get no satisfaction LET ME KNOW VIA A PM. I may be able to help on a PRIVATE basis but you do need to have tried to sort things out first.

The management team will then make a decision on whether to publish the company details on here.

We are NOT a consumer protection agency. We are also honor bound to give the supplier a say on here too!!

I have asked nicely before! Now I am pulling rank!! This is why we do not take advertising.

PS. We are not supporting ANY supplier. There are problems with everyone of them! A lot of the products come from one source which I will not name and will not purchase any of their products.

This board has no allegiance to any parts supplier.
