On a BIKE!!!!!!!! :yikes: :yikes:

I have been a diabetic for the last 12 years, not an injecting one, just diet and tablet controlled. Unfortunately the drugs used to control the problem have side effects, one of which is muscular wastage and I lost the muscles in my legs.

A few years ago I could only walk with a stick and had to rest if I was on my feet for too long. I got severe pain in my knees. Eventually things got so bad I decided to stop taking certain drugs.

I can now walk unaided, everything is under control and I can now ride a bike!!! Ann and I cycled some distance (for us) in the Veluwe National Park without wiping other cyclists off the road. Mind you, I got up close and personal with a tree on one occasion!

The last time we both rode was 27 years ago in a charity cycle ride of about 25 miles. We could hardly walk for two days afterwards. No ill effects after our trip this time. :D

Well done Brian , My Mum is the same and stopped taking certain meds as they made her so tired she was half dead most of the time. she asked the Doc and he said go steady and see what happens. His last comment was it was not his job to kill her pumping her full of stuff that was making her worse. Makes you wonder about what half these drugs are doing and are they all really needed.
Regards Robert

Brian,

Could it not be the Dutch air?
If so keep coming and you will bike one day from Norfolk to Meddo.
:P
Half the older population over here ride those new bikes with electric backup.
Keeps you moving without to much leg power.
Kind regards, Henk

They are "back pedal brakes" and take a bit of getting used to.

brian,
well done on your achievement, must be rewarding too. Personally i think too many drugs to try and make you better can be worse!
