Me on a 4000 from my depot at PM Tractors. We are pulling the float for the South Greenhoe School Wildlife Club, hence the greenery on the tractor.

Ann and our Capri were also on a float for the Womens Institute. The float theme was "We have our own oil now", just after the discovery of oil and gas under the North Sea and it first coming ashore in Norfolk.

That dress was years ahead of its time! It was another 15 to 20 years before Ginger Spice nearly wore one on TV  :D

It actually came from an old lady of about 70 at that time who liked to produce amature plays. Her daughter had worn it in a play in London during the late 1960's and she thought it would fit in well with the float theme.

A relic from the late 60's when UK industry was going down the drain because of unions/strikes so the government told us all to Back Britain and wear union flags - it didn't work!

Fine looking people though!!

Hope you don't mean Ann, :D Ben!

The Capri was a basic with a 1300 ohv. Would just top the 100 mph on a good run.

My boss at Wrights had the 3l V6. It spent more time over the hedge than on the road. :D It was way too much power for the body size.

I may have mentioned before that we had a 2.8V6 in a Mk 4 Cortina estate car, the German engine, if you hit the throttle hard at 50 mph you could smoke the tyres on that.

But what came very close to beating them all on getaway at the lights was our 1800 turbo diesel Fiesta. 8)

Was not uncommon on this side of the equator for Capri's to be repowered with V8's, normally with Ford 302's.Probably the best Capri in New Zealand, was repowered with a 350 Chev V8  , very effective on the race track. As for Fiesta's, I once had a 1.1 litre Mk 3 on the wrong side of 100 mph,its amazing what rental cars can do!
