March 29, 2011 - Forum back up after technical problem

Dear Fordson fan,
Our hosting company has moved their servers to a new location. Hosting providers have contracts with data centers, and our provider struck a new contract, so all the websites that they host (including ours) had to be moved. During that process, our forum crashed. For a wile things were looking grim - to be honest, I had anticipated a complete loss. As things are, we have lost a few recent posts but no more. If your recent posts fell between the cracks then I apologize.
The moving operation has been finished but the forum server is still fickle. You can expect periodic downtime (characterized by error messages) for the next 2 weeks or so
. Eventually the wrinkles should be ironed out.

Things like this is a reminder of how fragile computers and servers are and how important back up´s are. Luckily we did not lose anything........this time.

Yes I remember a forum I used to run that was set up by the previous owner. When I took over backups were automatically run every night. I upgraded the forum to a newer version and thought no more of it until the server crashed and i found that the backup syatem was a plugin that didn't work with the newer board vesion and gave no warnings of the incomplete backups it took every night.

We're back up again. Lets hope it's for longer this time.
