Hello All,
This is my first post on this forum. i have found the info on hear invaluble recently,
i've just overhauled the hydraulics on a 1961 Super major replacing all the seals and resetting the linkage also changing the oil and filters in the back end.
now that this is done my thoughts have now moved onto the tipping trailer that gets a considerable amount of use on the tractor. the ram leaks oil it seems such a shame to see that new oil escaping round the seals.
So can someone tell me how i go about getting the ram apart and how i replace the seals.

Thanks
Stuart

Welcome to the board, Stuart.
There are several different types of hydraulic cylinders and they come apart in different ways. Do you have a picture of the cylinder on your trailer?

As JC says, there are as many types of ram as there are women and they are all different (thank goodness).

You will need to be very careful as you take the ram off, making sure the trailer body is well propped up and secure before you start taking the ram off. Take it from someone who has seen one drop unexpectedly! They come down like a rat trap and you certainly do not want to be the rat!
