You bet, Ben! My Mrs. has been looking forward to it for weeks

We bought two Majors in the sale last year, but I doubt that'll be happening again this year .

This 61 Dexta was described by the auctioneer as a 'straight little thing', and it was in pretty much perfect off-farm condition. It was made within a week or two of mine, and sold for £3900, which is as much as I've seen for a Dexta:

A David Brown 50B made £29k, so there are still folk with cash.
The auction and crowds seemed bigger than last year. In fact it was hard to keep pace with the various auctions that were going on simultaneously.

Nice Photos.

That Fordson F is an early one with the ladder side radiator. The field service truck is very cool.

Dandy Dave!

Nice pictures and tractors.
Looks like the safety regulation was not that much during the time of that hedge cutter. Going through the traffic don't seem easy.

The hedge cutter was lethal!!! It drives from the belt pulley bevel gear in the gearbox, that means, with that saw spinning, when you put your foot on the clutch the tractor does not stop, as the momentum from the saw blade keeps the gearbox and the tractor, moving!
You have to knock the gear lever out of gear to stop!
We had a customer cut through an electricity pole in a hedge with one of those when it was new. He drew up to the pole when cutting the hedge then stood on the clutch and wondered why he did not stop.

I think that one may have being changed Brian ,what you cant see in the picture is a big hydraulic pump on the pto and an oil reservoir mounted above it on a frame .the lift arms have being removed .I looks like a home made conversion .The information board shows it working on a different super major and it says it has being used on various supers over the years and is still used. To add to the debate, Hydrocut, made by Chamberlain and Pettit from Sudbury in Suffolk UK made a circular saw type hedgecutter in the 1960's. It had an oil reservoir above the pto and a hydraulic pump driven off the crankshaft at the front.
There was a frame over the fuel tank which allowed a hydraulic boom to slide across from left to right. You then cut with the saw blade by sliding this boom with the tractor stationary. They made later models and may have ditched the boom.

Great pictures, espcially the County Forward Control!
Was this a common use of the FC? I recall seeing most pictures of a FC used with a goose neck tipping trailer instead of a trailer
built on the FC itself.
