Hello all,

Right, my father decided that i should disc a field tomorrow. I will be using our ford 5000 "y" a and a trailed offset disc harrow that was made by a bunch of welders (their job of making one was neat, anyway). I will be discing a rather stick soil, so I think I should post pics...

Well, before anything else, I apologize for the rather ugly roof (well, it might be ugly but you must need it if you don't want to disc all day long under the tropical heat of the sun then suffer further by getting caught by the rain on the way home  ) it was my grandfather who commissioned it(he's also the one who bought the tractor).

Since I am the operator as well as photographer I can't post pics of me discing(I don't want to take the risk of my samsung galaxy phone falling down and getting rolled over by the discs)
Sorry I only managed to take pics when the discing was done :eyes:

note: the house on the background is ours.

at least the disc was blue

You should paint the roof silver so that it will reflect more heat.... And match Power Major grills. 8) Dandy Dave!

I could paint it silver, but it will seriously annoy anyone if the tractor would be on the road on a sunny day!

So how about painting the outside top of the roof silver -- leaving a few centimetres on the perimeter un-silvered. It would lower the temp. you feel quite a few degrees.

That might work, well, my father says he will paint it blue, in fact, there were only two tractors around here that has a yellow roof: "our" 5000 and my grandfather's very original 4000!(my grandfather bought it new in 1973, and the codes at the starter says april 1973, my grandfather still uses it up to this day  )

Yes, even if my grandfather now has the chance to trade his old 4000 for a better tractor, he says he would NOT sell the tractor that served him for about 40 years! :D
