Check your breakdown cover for trailers

Post by Spanners »

My breakdown cover is coming up for renewal, so I decided to ask a few questions about the level of cover, as a family member recently got stuck having suffered multiple punctures.
It turns out that the RAC with whom I have been a member for years will not provide breakdown cover for my trailer. They will tow the trailer home or to a garage should the towing vehicle break down, but they will not come out if the trailer breaks down e.g. puncture or broken spring etc. :(
I the made enquiries with the AA and they will attend should the trailer suffer a breakdown, so I have joined the AA.
I'm not suggesting that anyone change breakdown cover, but do check what your policy actually includes so as not to get caught out like my relative did.

Trailer breakdowns are hopefully pretty rare. I carry a spare wheel.
