Ok. I took all the forestry gear and "cab" off. Removed the head and found some water in each of the cylinders. Engine would not turn. I removed the water, and filled each cylinder with wd40 and let it soak for a week. I got the crank to turn, replaced the head gasket and put the head back on. Injection pump was stuck, I removed it and got that one free too, I now have diesel to each of the injectors. Previous owner had screwed up the threads in the feed pump. Replaced that one too. Replaced oil filter, diesel filters, thermostat and radiator cap. Put on a new exhaust. Got the three flat tires repaired. One wast missing the valve, one had a puncture and on the last one the valve had disapared inside the tyre.
Engine had little compression when I turned the engine by hand. So I didn't have my hopes very high. Tried to crank it on the starter, and nothing happened. After I hit it with a hammer I got it to turn, but very slow. Starter starts smoking after 5 seconds, and the cables for the relay get very hot, that explains the melted wiring loom (I hotwired it).
So, we tried to tow it behind my neighbours Fendt 308. It didnt start, but I got to test everything. Gearbox is ok. Clutch is fine. Brakes works wonderfully. PTO engages. Hydraulics operates good and the power steering works wonderfully.
This is my first time "driving a county".
I still think it was a bargain
Time to get pull the engine apart and replace the piston rings. They must be stuck.
