Welcome aboard Andgjerd! Nice project you picked up. You are real close on the year, I’ll let the other guys date it for you…..I’ll bet there are a couple of them that don’t even have to look in the book.
Looks like the front Left wheel won’t turn, let us know what you find, hopefully nothing to bad. These are a GMC military axel so parts are around, you may just have to dig a little. If you have any questions just ask, I have had the Ax completely apart on my Selene, and there is a little trick to get the axel knuckles apart.
Looks like someone replaced the original tombstone with a fabricated unit, but looks like it is built quite well.
Does it run?

(Sorry, I can’t read Norwegian)

Hi Andgjerd,

That is a great tractor. It has a very interesting front axle with the extra strengthening on the lower half and a torque limiting clutch that is different from all the others I have seen or read about.

Pat is 100% right about parts for the front axle, they are easy to get even in Australia. I think I even found a company in Norway that sold CCKW parts when I was looking for parts for my axle some time ago. The only custom Roadless bit is the housing and that is hard to break. I have the GMC CCKW axle rebuilding specs on disk somewhere if you need them. Just send me a PM and I will dig them up and email them to you if you need them.

Regards, Frank.

P.S. I am a little jealous of your tractor, my tractor still needs to have all the Roadless parts repaired and bolted on.

The Major is running, after standing a lot of year outside. The left driveshaft was broken, and It is now welded. I have purchased a "new" built axle from a truck fore spare.
I belive this Rodless kit is mounted in Norway. Will try to get some more information from Roadless about that.
Rebuilding specs is interested, thanks!
What price is it on tractors like mine around in the World?

Looks like a November 1962 tractor but you would need to locate and post some of the date codes to confirm that.

It is not a Roadless. It is a Selene 4WD conversion.

What is the difference?

Basically the Same thing. Selene started building them first and then Roadless was later licensed to build them as well, and probably built more than Selene did.
The Selene units have the 4X4 shifter lever on the back of the gearbox and the Roadless had the shifter on the top, I believe the Roadless has the transmission bolts threaded into their housing and Selene uses through bolts.
I don’t believe I have seen a Selene with a “slip clutch” on the driveshaft before and this one doesn’t appear to be a Roadless unit, apparently yours is a Selene design. Both units used mostly the same axle set up.

This unit is a Roadless, you can see that the transfer case is also much thicker where it bolts between the transmissions.

Andgjerd, does your Selene have the locking mechanism on the brake pedals?

You can connect the break pedal together with a lock, yes.

Iam now thinking about selling this tractor. Any god tips to place an advert?

Andgjerd, I was curious about the linkage that locks the brake pedals down as mine had none of the linkage when I got it. With the addition of the transfer case the floor board’s mismatch with everything, I’m not sure if my parts went missing or if Selene never made the parts to adapt them.

This is what I made.
