Hey you're getting on well Pat,

She's looking good with her new boots & bonnet (sorry can't bring meself to say hood  ) and sounds as if you had some fun on plow day, I could be wrong but it sounds as though Granny hasn't had a look in on her new Oliver substitute yet :run: Are you going to paint 'er green 'n yella (the 6 not Granny  )

We got some body filler on the bonnet yesterday( sorry about that oehrick) I should get some primer on it tonight.
Granny hasn't even drove it yet, to be honest I don't think she will with the springs we have in the clutch, the peddle is quite stiff.
By all rights the Oliver's were a pretty good tractor as well, but Granny is going to have to live with a blue and orange rowcrop.

Praps they should put some of those springs in mobility scooters Pat, slow 'em down a bit :o

Methinks we need to have a word with Granny about hot starting & racing gearchanges :run:

I was wondering how heavy / light the steering was compared with the 'usual', had a friend with a couple of JD A's, one a Rowcrop and I always felt that was heavier, although the post knocker axles, hand clutch & general feeling of instability may have had an input to the feeling

You are well on course for a blue and orange conversation piece

Yes the steering is definitely a little heavy, It was very noticeable when we were plowing with it this spring, I can see why they made the power steering an option for it.
I got some primer on it last night and its probably as done as its going to get for now, I have to start getting ready for the thresheree this weekend.

starting to get caught up from this summer.
Mike wanted to know what I used for springs in the clutch, I got them from Jones Springs in Wilder Kentucky, they are the # 60 spring, you can find the specs on their website.

We took her to the Symco Thresharee and they let us do a exhibition pull, it smoked pretty good when I took off, but the clip was wired in and the turbo wasn't spooled up yet and it cleared rite up as we got her going, she started to work a little about 3/4 of the way down but never really worked it hard at all. when I got to the end of the track she started to jump up and down so I got out of the throttle, let it settle down and then hit it again, and it came rite back to life. But it was done, the eliminator had stopped and there was no getting it moving again, I should have went one gear higher.

Hey Pat,

That is one unique looking beast and no mistake  has to be one of the nicest E1A conversions /customisations I've seen :D

I noticed some front end weights on when you were prepping her and wondered why not on when pulling - does the longer / extra engine / frame weight make up for the lack of axle so she's not too light on the front end or was it because of the heavy steering you commented on earlier ?

Certainly no lack of back end grip with those weighted wheels and wide tyres - I see the skid is rigged for speed, does it have a strain gauge and if so what sort of DBHP are you getting ??

Oh, do we get a pic of granny's pull ? :run:

Thanks Oehrick!
I wasn't sure where to even start with the weights but I wanted to get her to 6500 lb and I was way over when I ran across the scale, so we took the weights and brackets off the front but left the 100 lb on each front tire. this worked good but I think I'm going to take the front wheel weights off, put the bracket back on with only one 100 lb suitcase weight on it and then get a little more on the rear

I don't believe the eliminator has a strain gauge but it would be interesting to see how much it pulls.

I did actually get Granny to drive it for the first time a few weeks ago, my apologies for not getting a picture of it :( ' Ill have to make a point of getting a few.

Hi Pat
Nice to see her going good :D , Just a tip for you I picked up when I started pulling the v8 Perkins/ Belarus tractor. Put a pressure gauge in the inlet pipe and run it to the hood or by the steering wheel so you can see it. then you can hold her on the clutch a little bring the boost up until she stops rising or so you know you got good boost. Then let her fly  . My first couple pulls I never had one. Guy told me I was a way under the turbo off the line. Fitted the gauge and started watchin that. It was surprising how much longer I was on the line, watchin the boost come up. I was as they said going way to early  .

We must have run over somthing as one of the front tires kept going flat so while I had it out yesterday I patched the tube and then had to take it out for a road test!

She sounds fine on the grass Pat but not at all happy on the blacktop - I wonder if she resents being forced to drive on the wrong side of the road ?? :run:

Several years ago I worked with Dennis, a young gentleman that was born and raised in Ireland and had only been in the US for a few weeks. We were at the end of a plant shutdown, had been working way to many hours most of the week, and we had finally got the plant back up and running late at night and heading home. On his way home Dennis was almost run off the road by a car going the wrong way, that just happened to be a police car, that turned around as Dennis thought, to apologize for doing something that stupid. When the officer approached the car Dennis didn’t even give him a chance to open his mouth and blurted out to the officer “what the f**k were you doing driving down the wrong side of the road”………Luckily for Dennis he had a strong accent and a Irish drivers license, he was sent on his way with nothing more than a strong reminder that we drive on the rite side of the road over here.

Hi, nice conversion :D , just wondering how you got around the sump bolts not lining up with bell housing, I'm in the middle of a conversion myself and I've put a couple of nuts and bolts through where I could, but was thinking of making a sub chassis or some sort of brace back to gearbox or rear axle, but you haven't got this so do I not need it, any help or advice appreciated

we just made some L shaped brackets out of angle iron and bolted them to the bottom holes in the bell housing to "pinch" the bottom lip of the oil pan. my permanent plan is still to weld more material on the bottom of the pan to be able to use all the bell housing bolts and also weld in ribs to the back of the sump for strength. But if you plan on using or abusing yours I would suggest additional framing/bracing similar to what most everyone else does when converting them. We also used a stock Fordson clutch and flywheel with heavier springs, but as Brian has pointed out several times, they are not designed for this much horse power and chances are good that sooner or later you will be picking pieces up off the ground, of if your lucky just replacing a burned clutch.

I went for the 13" clutch I've got it to rolling chassis I've put plates up the side of the engine but still trying to figure out a way forward with my bracing back to gearbox/back axle I don't want to make it to bulky but I still want it strong, cheers for reply and advice

Hi Kev
Just saw your post when I was looking through. I have a power major here in Canada with a 6 cyl in I shipped with me when I moved from the U.K. It originally had 14x30 tires on that were shot. I picked up a pair of Goodyear 18.4 30 cross ply tires from a Massey 500 series combine before i left, the old 955 JD combine had them to  . The treads are fairly new and they fit on, , and make the tractor look the part. it has the mud gaurds up about 3/4" higher as it has a roll bar. I put new 18.4x30 23 degree tread cross ply Firestones on a 4cyl super I sold to, they were slightly larger diameter(taller) than the goodyears so the lug was close to the mudguard top with only an inch or 2 gap, that didn't look so nice . it made the tractor look like it was all tires with the shorter length 4 cyl :eyes: . The only thing is with a 14x30 rim an 18.4 tire pulls in on the side walls quite a bit due to the narrow rim width but it still looks ok I think .. A 16.9 x 30 will fit slightly more square, and look better , some of the super majors here in North America actually had a wider 30 rim that doesn't have the step in where the dish fits like the english 14x30 rim, so a bigger tire sits out nice with the extra width, i got a couple sets here but that won't help you in the U.k  .
I got a picture of the super the day it sold here someplace if I can find it I'll post it for you.
Regards Robert

Thanks Robert , I've had quite a hard time finding these rims I didn't want to go the route of welding in centres into another wheel. I've had them shot blasted and painted next its tyres 16.9 30 seem impossible to find good secondhand. I can get bkt, or maholtra reasonable. So cheers for the advice i would like to see a picture of an 18.4 on a 14x30 rim see what you have :)

I'm going to have to check but I do believe the tires on my trike are 16.9X30, I'll have to measure the rim width as well. And they are still a little bulgy on these stock rims.

My bad, they are 18.4X30 on a 12" rim. My Selene has the same size but those rims have been widened about 6", witch looks wider than they need to be. I'm thinking a 14" or 16" rim would work better. Most tire vendors list a rim size needed for the specific tire on their websites.

Thanks pat I think il go with the 16.9 I can get maholtra for £185 each which isn't to bad not sure what the quality is like but I won't be using tractor to much so will do for me :D

So we didn’t get the “not for export” done this summer, just ran out of time, but we did get a bunch of little things done before the Symco Thrasharee.
I finally got rid of the ugly air cleaner on the row crop. I fond a air cleaner from a Super Six in the junkyard, they had no idea what it was, and stuffed it and a battery under the bonnet. I took an old rusty battery box and cut it down so that I could still fit a 800 CCA battery in it sideways. The starter solenoid will get permanently mounted up in the battery box area as there was no longer a place under the battery box, and the voltage regulator will probably get moved to the firewall just behind the fuel filter, same as the Super Six, at the moment its wrapped in a rag and laying against the battery.
Good part... everything fits under the bonnet.
Bad part... the air cleaner needs to be removed to service it, luckily only three bolts and the hose clamps.
The bonnet still needs some fixing as the precleaner hole ended up in the wrong place, and I think the precleaner is off a Commander, but it looks rather stealth.

Howdy. Please, is there anybody who knows how to do programming tasks? I need a programming assignment help. School time is the most important. You need to write student papers. Sometimes there is not enough time and desire to write programming assignments, but you must do it. I do not know what to do. Probably asking for help from specialists is the only choice. Thank you all in advance. Please reply as soon as possible.
