590 E larger head bolt size?

Post by 1962 model »

Hello all,
I have a 590 E engine here ( B 1 F ( in bits ) which has larger head bolt size than any others either before or after and I cannot work out why it sholud have oversize bolts, can anyone offer a clue why this would be.

I seem to recall something about turbo models having larger head bolts but I could be wrong?

I would not recomend the larger head bolts in conjunction with the later/ larger cylinder liners because a few of the bolt holes are cracked through to the liner bores! This engine is now spare parts for my other more viable engines.
