Hi guys ,
I have been offered a nice Super Major Roadless 4wd. It runs and is all there, it does need some love though and is abit rough, electrics are bodged , one small hole in nose cone and clearly not been used in a while.
What sort of value would you place on a tractor like this ? Obviously photos would help but sorry I dont have any !
Ive looked at old auction results and simular ones seem to go for about 4-6k. Restored ones appear to be clioser to £10k !
Thanks
Richard

Re: Roadless Value
Here I know one of about 4000 that doesn't get sold yet.
My ideaa is that, depending on condition 5000 is the maximum. In my opinion if it's a late 63-64 super it's even worth a little more.
greetings.

it's in fair condition, as far as I could see. I didn't hear it running or so.

Re: Roadless Value
In the UK a genuine Roadless (not a Selene) will fetch 5-6k rough/running but needing work, more if a new performance. A really good original or very well restored will be over 10k. One sold at auction recently in restored condition for 12k (H J Pugh auctioneers).
A full front axle rebuild can set you back 3k+ these days, half shaft assemblies are £500/side so really worth checking condition out. Watch out on new performance as theres a few been made up from earlier bits but the new performance came with 2 different diff ratios and I've seen more than one which was married to the wrong ratio backend.

Re: Roadless Value
So Ive been back to look at it and its been dragged out the stinging nettles. The tractor is actually not that bad - needs cleaning off and an oily rag etc. Its in better condition than my other major which gets used regualrry !
However... from looking around mainly on here.. this thread for example
http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb ... php?p=6060
It seems it is a Selene not a Roadless ? Basically it says Manual on the diff but not Manual Roadless and the oil fill is to the right. I cant upload a pic but it looks identical to the axel and trnasfer box in this picture...but its a super mjaor not a power major.

Can anyone help me with this - is this is a Selene or a Roadless , and if the former is it worth less ?

Re: Roadless Value
Richard,
I have no idea if a Selene is less worth then a roadless. A 4wd major is always nice to have.
The box between rear axle and gearbox is like a thick metal plate on a Selene. The box of a roadless is bigger and will make your tractor a little longer.
Good luck!

Re: Roadless Value
Selene worth less in UK than roadless. Later selene had wide transfer box . Should be serial plate on front axle for roadless.
