my first dexta

hi all just jioned this site after purchaseing my first dexta after selling my little grey fergie
i have learnt a lot just by reading older posts hope fully will learn a lot more
just taken her for hewr maiden voyage runs like a dream she has only been used for towing a helicopter out of a hanger for the last 20 years so no paper work
i have just taken the numbers of her to see if it can be dated hopefully someone can help

Welcome to the board.

From the numbers you give she looks like an August onwards, 1961. Serial numbers changed their format in November and the date code you give is July, so I am making an educated guess at August. Find as many date codes (J18F) as you can, they are on all castings, an photograph them for evidence along with the serial number, for the DVLC if you intend to register her.

The numbers you have found confirm July 1961 towards the end of the month, so August seems about right.
