Dexta handbrake
Am just restoring a 1964 Super Dexta and the handbrake has rotted through just below the rubber hand grip. Does anyone know where I could purchase a replacement, or where I could get a line drawing showing all fitments to try and reconstruct one from maybe parts of a caravan handbrake.
Thanks, David

My handbrake suffered a similar fate:

It was repaired fairly easily by welding on a new 'end', as seen below:

We used an Agriline repair kit for the button, ratchet pawl and spring.
Perhaps you can do the same

All the best,

Handbrake repair
Ross,RossM wrote:ben, where did you get the handbrake grip from or was it already on the piece you welded on?
It was my original grip. We just slid it off and slid it back onto the repaired handle. Try Malcolm Hipperson or a breaker for a 2nd hand grip.

Handbrake Lever release mechanism
Here's some more pics:Supertractorman wrote:Do you have a further photo showing where the ratchet fits to keep the handbrake locked in position as I cannot figure that bit out yet?
My repaired handle:

With button out (brake engaged)

With button depressed (brake released)

Note the ratchet plate is not yet fitted. This is attached to the wing or in my case will be attached to the roll frame.

Handbrake rubber
Hi, I am all new here. Agriline has the handbrake rubber for the Major on their website. I suppose it is the same size/type, but not sure about it.

Handbrake Grip / Gaiter / Rubber
Strangely only £5.50 for the Major! I wonder if the diameter is the same?Jerry Coles wrote:Just been to Agriline's web site and under their new products they have a Handbrake Gaiter for £8.50!!

Dexta handbrake location on early models
Just being curious;when did the location of the handbrake change to that being discussed in this post; my 1958 Dexta has the handbrake on the left hand side between the foot brakes and the linkage controls.
Re: Dexta handbrake location on early models
Handbrake became available in 1959 according to my Fordson book - doesn't say which month.michael dyer wrote:Just being curious;when did the location of the handbrake change to that being discussed in this post; my 1958 Dexta has the handbrake on the left hand side between the foot brakes and the linkage controls.
I thought the earlier brake lock was on the RH not LH side?

My mistake in typing; indeed the handbrake is on the RH sideBensdexta wrote:Handbrake became available in 1959 according to my Fordson book - doesn't say which month.michael dyer wrote:Just being curious;when did the location of the handbrake change to that being discussed in this post; my 1958 Dexta has the handbrake on the left hand side between the foot brakes and the linkage controls.

Re: Dexta handbrake
Hi David,
Pity you are so far away I have a spare handbrake lever plus plastic grip.
Mervyn.
