Got a few events coming up so I dug out our disk plough to shine her up to use any one else got any ploughing pics they would like to add ?
Ps sorry its not a ford but I have not got the hydraulics working yet but when I do watch this space .
I always thought that the disk plows were neat. They are rather rare in my area as they do not work well in our soil. Years ago I plowed with a W6 that belonged to some good friends after doing a motor job on it to help break it in. That was a good running tractor but sure liked Petrol. Dandy Dave!
Almost all broad-acre farms here in Oz are minimum till even though most have 14, 20 or 25 row disc ploughs to put in fire-breaks -- or else they just spray with Round-up. The trouble with disc ploughs is that they leave a 'pan' because of their scouring action which makes water drainage a real problem. Because of this many areas of Oz have developed salt pans on which very little will grow. As well, they are not the best at burying trash and weeds and quite often will ride up over heavy growth. After putting in our fire breaks I usually go over it with a 9 tine sub-soiler.
I must admit I really miss the 3 furrow mouldboard reversible I used in the UK.
