Yes. I press the new bushings in the rod first and then set up an expandable reamer in lathe chuck. To get them right he will need to also take the wrist pins and keep checking them for fit. This is not uncommon. He may already know this if he has a lot of machining experiance. Dandy Dave!

thanks Dave. When you say wrist pin, Is that what i call the gudgeon pin?? Will set him this little task this evening. Hopefull being an Aircraft engineer for the royal navy he should know what hes doing........

not sure if it will help but the good old book does suggest dropping the pistens in a bucket of boiling water to slide the pins in

does make a fair bit of difference when warm.

but its makes it good fun trying not to burn yourself fitting the things haha

I read that too, about putting the piston in boiling water. But the gudgeon pin fits like a dream in the piston but it wont fit through the little end bush.

On another note, I stripped my starter motor down yesterday while im waiting for engine bits to come back. Where can i get hold off the drive plates/clutch plates from?? Ive found them on forge services but they are out of stock.

As well as placing the pistons in boiling water for 1/2 an hour, try placing the conrods in as well, having left the gudgeon pins in the freezer overnight. Be sure to wear good gloves.

Yes, that is what they are called in the UK. Wrist pin over here is a Grugeon pin over there. Different name for the same part. A hood over here, is a Bonnet over there. A hood over there is a roof/convertible top over here. Gasoline over here, Petrol over there. Generator over here, Dynamo over there. We have lived well with Delco and Autolite. You poor blokes had to put up with Lucas... The Prince of Darkness.

My heart goes out to you matey's.

But you do have Rolls Royce, and high quality Clear Hooters Horns.

The only Horn that is correct on our Fordsons.

And who could forget that fun loving chap, Benny Hill.

Still waiting for my Head and Crank to come back, But got my number plate made up yesterday. And managed to get a front cowl from Ebay

Picked my Cylinder head and crank up lastnight, and had a delivery from Agriline this morning. So it looks like im going to have a weekend of tractor

So this afternoon i have got the pistons all built up and in the bores, Crank is in and all big ends and mains torqued up.

Plenty of Wellseal on the front crankshaft cork seal. Someone wishes he'd done this job properly.

Well, ok, it's not that bad, but oil is nice to look at when you're pouring it in, but not so good to look at when it's leaking out!

We do not have anything like that here. I bet you could get it in New York City if you wanted to. Seems like they have everything there. One of my once in a while favorites is a Farmers Omelet.

If I ate them everyday, I would weigh 300 pounds....

We have omlettes but to be honest there not the most exiteing meal over here, its basically just cheese and onion haha. Just out of interest how much does the normal white diesal cost in your parts?? We are up to £1.35 - £1.50 in the uk. The price we have to pay for a country being ran by monkeys haha

Looking good. You're getting close now. How's your crankshaft pulley looking? If it's scored where the old seal ran, worth considering putting a speedi-sleeve on it for the new seal to run on.

Are you going to use running-in oil? Not a bad idea.

Are you getting excited? I am! A Youtube video of the start-up would be great if you could manage it.
