Seat mounting bolts

Post by Bensdexta »

Can someone tell me the size/length of the seat mounting bolts which go into the two holes in the centre of the picture.

The parts list indicates they are studs but doesn't give any size.

Looking forward to having a seat

Hi ben, all I usually do is find some bolts among the thousands of spare ones ive got lying around, and see which one fits best. Luckily just five mins down the road from us is a small workshop supplies shop which stocks almost everything you could imagine (im like a child when i go in there). The bloke in there has one of those threaded dial plates so he can tell me exactly what thread etc it is and usually has them on the shelf!
Oh yay, look, another seized bolt! Lets get a hammer.....and some kano.....and some cider!

Imperial stuff round here is like the proverbial.

But I do have a man who can make me a stud, if I can tell him what size! Pretty certain not 3/8" - tried that, so following Scooby my money's on 7/16" UNC.

Ben,

Our '62 Super Dexta and '61 Petrol Dexta have:

7/16" studs, 1 1/2" long with a flat bottom and slightly rounded top>
They have:
>the bottom end threaded in 1/2" with 14tpi (UNC) to fit into the hydraulic cover and..
>the top end threaded in (down) 3/4" with 20tpi (UNF).

The flat washers on the Super Dexta are thicker than normal being 1/8" thick followed by a lock washer and a 7/16"UNF nut that has a rounded top and a machined ridge on the underside.
The flat washers on the Petrol look even larger and thicker

Made me look!! :)
