Super Dexta with continental mudguards

Hi,

I have a Super Dexta with continental mudguards - they are white and square in appearance

Year 1964

The tractor is located in Ireland and as far as I am aware was bought from new here in the 1960s

Do the mudguards make it rare?

Due to the mudguards, is it worth more than other Dextas of similar condition ?

Would these mudguards have come about du to using up old stocks of parts at the near end of the life of the dexta?

You say square in appearance? they look much the same as the ones fitted to my 1963 Super Dexta, apart from colour, although on second looking mine join onto the footrests, yours seem not to?

No, the do not attach to the footplates

They are squarer and wider than the normal ones. Maybe the picture does not show it that well

Also if you notice in picture two that unlike the normal ones, there is a ca two inch lip on the edge

The normal ones have no lip

Also the mudguard cover the whole tyre. the normal ones do not seem to - or look 'skimpy'

They look like mudguards from an Industrial Dexta or Ferguson to me..

Does the tractor have a master cylinder on the left side to the rear of the clutch pedal?

I replaced the pictures in the first post with better ones.

The tractor does NOT have the master cylinder

You can now see the lip and that they cover the wheel completely.

I note Brian's pictures of the industrial Dexta.

On mine you can see that the front edge of the guards slope up when viewed form the front.

On the industrial the fronts are level

As you can also see, the guards on mine are only attached at the axle - there is no attachment to the footplates.

The guards emanate in a 'V' shape away from the axle.

The guards on the industrial DO attach to the footplates.

Also mine have only one internal presses strengthening rib each - the industrial in the picture has three on each guard


Was there a different type of Mudguard on the German special or other export variants? i.e different again to the industrial?

Or could these, which I have be from a completely different tractor?

Continental mudguards usually have a seat frame but yours do look the same as the ones on this German Dexta. Check your serial number on the clutch housing flange on the fuel filter/pump side and see if it has a "D" after it.

Is it 'D' for 'Deutschland'?

Mine is a Super Dexta.

Was there ever a 'special' using the Super Dexta or were the specials only built on the Dexta only?

Any chance I could get a full scan of the German manual - per PM or such like?

I speak German so it would be nice to see and read.

I had a look on the Internet and found a coupe of super dextas with similar mudguards albeit in blue.

The first is a Super dexta - just the badge is obscured when I resized the photo

What you will notice though is a sheet metal piece 'connecting' the footplate to the mudguard (red arrow).

You can see the mudguard go down to the axle in the V shape as I described earlier (blue arrow)

You can also 'see' between the connecting piece and the rest of the mudguard



You can see this connecting piece in the following picture too.

Note the same strength rib in the connecting piece as the picture above

You cannot see the V shape of the wing as clear.

Also note that there are no 'special' decals

'DAH' on the number plate are the letters denoting registration in Dachau outside Munich

Hi, another version of mudguards are in switzerland very common. The "standard" mudguards are cut and welded to an additional top element. This bigger mudguards are reinforced with two T-iron under the top element.

My Supr does not have the underswept exhaust

Looking at the swiss mudgaurds - were they factory made?
