hydraulics week pump???
hydraulics week pump???
hi all I have recently purchased a super major and am having a little problem with the hydraulics. I have been searching all weekend on the forum and have tried most of the recommendations and I think I have narrowed it down to the pump but just need reassuring, after removing the small top valve block the one with the auxiliary pipe fitted, Putting the pto in gear and turning the pto shaft by hand oil comes up out the casing but if I place my finger over the hole there is little to no pressure, It has fresh oil and the filter has been cleaned. the lift did work but the tractor needed to be revved as it wouldn't raise at all on tick over. cheers guys.
Re: hydraulics week pump???
You would not be able to build up enough pressure by turning the PTO shaft by hand but you could try spinning the starter with the stop pulled. Low pressure could be either pump or a blown "O" ring on the feed pipe. The top will have to come off but you need not drain the oil to get the pump out, we used to work under the oil to get a socket on the retaining bolts then just lift the pump out.
With all the bolts out of the pump remove the end housings, there are two large "O" rings behind them. The gears and bearing blocks will remain in the centre part of the pump you need to mark the bearing blocks to make sure they go back in the same positions when you reassemble the pump and that they are the right way up. If you look carefully you can see that there is a difference in the "V" of the "8" shape of the blocks. you should not mix the blocks up as they are "worn" to the pumping surface of the gears.
