I have no experiace of that engine but i guess the tacowire should be connected to the rear of the injectionpump, if Minimec
The the W connector on the alternator is possible if the taco is an electric.

My D series truck has the 380 CID engine. The tacho on my truck is is electric, not mechanical like the 590E engines. From memory the pick up unit bolts into the engine block and is driven by the oil pump. Its located in a bulge half way down the right side of the block.

Hi Super6 - From memory, there used to be a tacho drive adaptor which slides down into the block to connect to the oil pump very similarly to a distributor on a petrol engine. You may be able to machine up one out of an old distributor. I think there used to be a petrol engine in a truck which had a very similar looking block. Other members may be able to add more about this. Best regards -
Michael.

The 10 series tractors had their tacho drive from this area, so the gearing should be readily available.
