Thanks to all on this forum, your help has been greatly appreciated. My power major will not crank and I'm tried of working on it, especially since it had been cranking fine. I guess it is headed back to the shed, maybe one day I will fill like looking at it again. This site is great for info and all on here are willing to help. Thanks especially to Brian, he knows the ins and outs of these tractors.
Good luck to all on getting their's up and running.
Thanks
Gerald

Stay in touch with the Fordson family Gerald.
Never give up hope. Just wait a while and then try again.
Kind regards, Henk

Thanks Henk, I guess because she was cranking with no problem has really frustrated me, was really looking forward to putting her to work. It puffs white smoke when I turn it over now which I believe means fuel is getting there. Turning over by hand seems to have good compression and I took rocker cover off and all valves appear to be working correctly, no bent rods. Thanks for your help and take care.

Hi Gerald,

Don't give up on the old girl yet. My E27N P6 had a sad case of the hissy fits not long ago. She has a fully rebuilt motor and all new electrics and she took forever to start. lots of white smoke in puffs and spurts but no go. All because I didn't start her often enough. My advice is tow start her and she will probably fire without problems. After that she will be fine so long as you keep her working. My usual motto is if it ran before don't mess with it. That is mechanically speaking, electrics are evil and even a small amount of extra resistance in a battery terminal or some other problem will stop starting. Have faith and all will be well.

Regards, Frank.

P. S. I had to jump start my Nissan Patrol to get to work today, so nothing is guaranteed any more. Thank god my wife decided to walk to work this morning and left her car at home.

Thanks Aussie Frank for the encouragement. Yesterday I put the rocker cover back on and put a tarp over her for now. If she had not been cranking without any effort since I pulled her out of the shed a few months back I guess I would not have been so frustrated. With a diesel I understand the white smoke means fuel is getting to cylinders. Thanks again, I will be coming back in and reading, maybe someone else will post something that will lead me in the right direction.
Thanks
Gerald
