Mc Connel sawbench, PTO log splitter and Clarke compressor

I have a few items for sale,

Mc Connel Pto sawbench - flat belt model,good blade,sliding table and belt ejector,complete with pto shaft, works nicely

I bought this compressor brand new at the start of this year, it is immaculate and barely been used, i have lost the use of 3 phase electrics so can no longer use it. I paid £668 for the compressor

23cfm, more than adequate for spraying or all air tools and a 200 litre tank

I paid nearly £60 for the air hose and about £30 for 4 antivibration feet for the compressor.

So in total i have paid around £750, i will sell the whole lot, compressor,air hose and feet for £450

PTO Driven Log Splitter - I had two of these made at great expense by an engineering company at the start of this year, having spent over a year looking to buy one, i discovered that the high majority of new ones you can buy are crap ! These have been made with thicker than average sheet metal, the bearings on the shaft are sealed so they dont fill with sawdust, and unlike most others i have had a grease nipple put so you can grease the shaft, the splitting cone is machined from hardened steel and is 80mm in diameter, not 40mm like others. the cone itself were £200 each. The table itself is very large at approx 4 foot across so plenty of room to manoeuvre. I dont need two splitters so i am selling one of them, it has a new pto shaft aswell and is painted massey ferguson red, these work very very well, you lift up your lift arms to which working height you feel comfortable with, it splits logs easily with minimal effort and you only need tractor on tickover. i have split up big rings of ash 6 foot in diameter with them easily. £500

Is it similar to a Hy-Crack?
What power tractor does it need?
Does it have a safety frame to stop operator falling forwards?
Do you consider these safe as I believe concerns have been raised, not least by HSE?

I spent a long time studying and viewing the Hy crack models, i didnt buy one of them because i wasnt too impressed with parts of their build.

The two i had made have thicker sheet metal, a much stronger frame,a thicker shaft to the cone and i had the table made bigger than the hycrack ones as i thought they were a little on the small side, a bigger table gives you more room to manoveure.

They dont need alot of power to operate, we have used them on fergie 20's (20 odd hp) and they work fine, it has pins for cat 1 but you can change them easily for cat 2.

I have used them for many hours and regard them to be safe, but like any item, in the wrong hands they could be dangerous.
