Hello,
So I just dragged home a new (to me) Fordson and I am trying to identify the make and model, any help would be greatly appreciated.
What I know:
1. The emblem on the hood says "Fordson Major Diesel"
2. The S/N is 1270617
3. The casting code under the seat is A27V
4. It has a PTO in the rear and a crank driven pump for the bucket on the front
Can someone here tell me the year and model?
I will try to post a picture when I get it onto my computer.
Thanks,
Jeffrey

Re: ID Help
Hi
Looks like it IS a Major Diesel built towards the end of 9/53.

Re: ID Help
Thank you very much!
I have not yet had time to determine the condition of the engine yet but I am looking forward to playing with the new toy when I get a chance.

Re: ID Help
Might be an idea to find more casting codes, they are on every cast part. Your casting code gives January 27th 1954 so your lift is newer than the serial number indicates. This is possible as the lifts were not standard at that time.
Look on the Home Page www.fordsontractorpages.nl and go to the Wiki, the codes you need are "fordsontractorpages" and "dotty", ther is an article on there with pictures showing where all the codes are. "Identifying Your Major".
