Adding 3 point linkage to non 3pl tractor

Post by ratto »

I was wondering if it was simply a bolt off, bolt on scenario for 3pl arms? My mate has a 58 fordson which doesnt have 3pl. I have a wreck which does. Not sure of age of wreck, prob 54 or 56? Is it simply pulling off the seat cover with arms from my axle housing on the wreck and placing this onto his axle housing? Or are there extra gears which might interfere on different models? It has been suggested just replace the whole back end? Bit too much for this backyard mechanic i think.
Cheers in advance.

Ratto,

If the two tractors have the brake drums extended from the rear end, they use the same cover. You can change it without any problems. You might have to switch the pump with the pedestal and the PTO gear also, but that's not a hard job either. Only the oil has to be drained out the rear end. I have done the job and it’s easy. You need something to lift the cover. It’s heavy.
Kind regards, Henk
