Tach face, what is correct?

Post by GregMoore »

My New Major Diesel (castings say it's a 55) needs a new tach and cable. The dead one is a clockwise, but the numbers are at the bottom and the hours top. All the various replica's I have seen have the RPM scale at the top and the hours at the bottom.. Does this matter or will any clockwise tach work for me?

Should work. There were several manufactures supplying tacks back in the day from what I have read. The two suppliers were Smiths, and AC. Dandy Dave!

Hi Greg
I think the tach you need to be correct on your tractor is the one agriline products from the U.K sell in their compete kit. The ones for the power and super major are smaller as they fit in a housing on top of the fuel tank. yours is about 5" dia and the others are about 4" and will drop right through your mounting bracket  .
