Running on 2

Post by mark_c »

Fired her up this morning & the engine only ticked over on 2 cylinders :(

Easy Start would get all 4 cylinders going but only as long as I squirted it in the intake.

What should I check?

Thanks :)

Firstly that the air intake is not restricted. Then that enough fuel is being ejected from each injector -- usually by removing the injectors, re-coupling the pipes and operating the starter -- making absolutely sure that no part of your body can get in the way of the fuel stream.
Next check the valve gaps.
If these are seen to be OK, then a wet and dry compression test would tell if it is a valve or compression problem.

Turns out that the rod that controls the butterfly on the intake had popped off so very little air was getting in!

Back on, roared into life no problem.

Glad it's not the injectors! Thanks for the advice :)
