Post by majormajor »

hi ive just got another major to the collection, it has 40lbs oil pressure but when i look inside the rocker cove there is no oil getting up to the rockers, it drops to 20lbs when hot, ive changed the oil & filter but still no oil getting up there, ive had the rocker shaft off and spun the engine an no oil coming up from the block, ive blew down it with an air line and and but dont seem to be blocked, any body every had this before if so what did you do to sort it, any happy would be grand many thanks,

Try disconnecting the oil gauge line at the block and using a suitable fitting attach an air line and pressurise the system , keeping the air pressure below the max oil pressure , see if air is coming through
at the rocker inlet (rocker shaft removed) . Would also try this in reverse by pressurising the system from the rocker inlet.
If nothing conclusive is found from the above, timing cover and/or sump may have to be removed to allow further investigation.

When pressurizing the oil ports don’t forget the port in the camshaft has to be positioned correctly to allow passage. Has the engine ever had cam bearings installed, I had an issue with one of mine.
