Oily Exhaust

It's 20hrs since engine rebuild and after an afternoon's light work, she's developed an oily exhaust. Definitely oil, and the dip stick has gone down a bit.

Is this the dreaded light load syndrome?

I'm using Morris Golden Film SAE 20w/50 Classic Motor Oil.

Yes, you really need to get it into work to get the engine bedded in.

hi , after i rebuilt my dexta i had 15/40 in her and afer about the same amount of hrs 25
iwas getting oil spots under bonnet, i then decided to change to morriss 30 stright ,
i have a small garden and i must have ploughed this up and then flatened it an reploughed must have
been about 20 times it did clear it up . try not to let her idle to much either, istll use the 30 stright
have about 300hrs on her and so far so good, sky blue

Thanks for the comments, especially about the oil. I see Morris's recommend SAE30 or SAE40 for 'lightly loaded diesel engines..where they can dramatically reduce the likelihood of bore glazing' . I'll get the old Robin plough out!

Changed oil to Morris SAE30 and much less oil coming out of the exhaust.
Perhaps that's why manual says this grade, not multigrade?

I've measured my oil pressure and its always 50-60psi, hot or cold, slow or fast, being towards the higher end when cold or fast.

Is 50 psi for normal working too high - manual says 40psi...??

Think I've read that the pressure relief valve for the oil pump is set to 60psi?

When I rebuilt mine I used 30 weight Shell Rotella. Had a little blow by for about 10 hrs. Then it went away. been good ever since.

I've since put some Morris Running In Oil in her and after several days topping, there's much less oil coming out now. Been advised to leave it in for 100hrs.
