tappets

right got head back from machine shop and fitted, just been trying to set tappets
and dont seem to be able to get it right have set as per book
mark in clutch housing spy hole on tdc set 1235, turn fly wheel one revolution, set 4 6,
but cant sem to get 4 6 to set they are tight and wont loosen up to set
, what am i doing wrong , anyone

I have always set vales on a 4 cylinder a bit different. I set the valve clearance when the valve the same number of spaces from the opposite end is fully open. for example set #1 when #8 is open, #8 when #1 is open, #2 when #7 is open, #7 when #2 is open etc,

try setting #4 when #5 valve is fully open, and #6 when #3 valve is fully open.

just been out an readjusted the tappets , have now got them set as per book ,
