super major steering box

hi ive been looking for a steering box for my super major and seen a diesel major steering box i know the throttle rod isnt on the steering box but can i swap the casing over from my super steering box or will it not work ? thank you

Hi well I'm relatively new at rebuilding fordsons but I have learnt that the stering Colm is longer on the hand throttle type to allow for it to travel through the clocks . I do think that they are interchangeable

As far as I can make out from my book of words; you can -- with the only difference in the box itself being the oil seal in the drop arm side of the box having an O ring on early models rather than an oil seal proper as on later ones.

As Paudie pointed out, the steering shaft and housing are longer on the Power & Super majors, if you have to take it apart to swap these parts you may be farther ahead to just pull yours apart and rebuild it. there are several vendors that have the parts available.........Just a thought.

hi pat yeah only thing is the worm is too worn too be re used and the thread where the arm is has been cross threaded so dont think i could re use the unit so ill have to buy a whole one does anyone have a super/power steering box for sale as id like to get it going soon
