grill without lights

Post by terry274 »

What year did the Super Dexta have lights out of the grill? That is, when were the lights mounted on the cowl?

According to my book Ford & Fordson Tractors, Golden Years, the New Style Dexta with headlamps in the chaff screens was introduced in Nov 1960, from serial no, 957E68356.
All the best,

My tractor currently looks like this:

I believe it is a late 1963 or early 1964 model. Is this what the grill should look like:

I don't find grills that look like the last picture anywhere other than this picture of a sale brochure.

That's no use with a front loader, as the lights are in the way of the arms?

The grills in the picture are export grills used on tractors where the lights in the front did not comply with that countries law. You can see the brackets for the internal lights in your picture at the bottom of the radiator.

The grills are standard pre 1960 Dexta grills and are readily available over here. They are expensive, around £50.00 a pair.

Are both grills the same size? Can I use the one's without light holes? I know that would not be as she came from the factory, but it would still look better than the damaged radiator look I now have...

The grills are identical. It is only the cowl that is a different shape. So you can use either grill type.
