Super NP mark II
Has anyone heard of a mark II super NP. 64 HP 2700 rpm. Raito can be found under the gear shifter. My friend Dies says he has one of 5 last build ones.
Kind regards, Henk

Re: Super NP mark II
My April 1958 Major is referred to as a Mk2 due to it having the engine without throttle linkage through block Henk, the engine I think went on to be used in the NP then at some time the injection pump was changed from the Simms to the Minimec (?)
Don't know if this helps or not - sounds like an expert may be needed

Re: Super NP mark II
I wonder if Dies has got an Edbro. Or possibly an NP Super that has been "modified" in Holland or over here.
NP Super production finished in about July 1964 and the production line was removed from Dagenham and sent to Spain within a few weeks. Tractors from that point were built out of parts held in stock until orders were complete. These were standard tractors without any special modifications or additions. How do I know? We had a yard full of Supers, Super Dextas and Dextas which we sold until mid 1965 when we started to get a few Thousand Series. I believe we were holding Ford's stock of tractors for the East of England. We were also selling tractors from the test facility at Boreham House.
The Ford parts list shows the engine numbers/serial numbers as "Last of the Series" in September 1964 so that would be the last New Performance built/assembled.
The New Performance engine was being built in Spain during 1965 and all our spares for engines came from there via Ford Motor Company, Ford had moved on in engine design and the four cylinder engine was now the 2701E version which, in my opinion, was the engine that should have gone in the 5000. It would have been possible, with a few modifications, to fit it in a Super.
Rear axle ratios of 3.3 or 4.4 were always stamped behind the gear stick on all NP Supers. Ford changed the ratios to give more gears in the PTO rev range so we had a Super with a low top speed and one with a normal one. We got a lot of experience changing crown wheel and pinions to meet customer requirements when the only tractors we had were what was in stock.
Wonder if Dies has got hold of a Ford test tractor with this engine fitted. The horse power and rev range sound about right. Any pictures or serial numbers/date codes would help identifying what he has.
Remember us to him and his wife please and say that we intend to come to your part of Holland on our next trip in 2018.
