Oil volume in rear axel

Hi

I changed oil in the rear axle a few days ago.
It is a new performance super major.
Operating manual specifies 41 liter.
I added two cans of 20 liters, without measuring the level.
When I measured the level it was way above the high mark.
I removed like 4 - 6 liters.
Anybody else have this experience?

I had the top off and cleaned the interior of the rear axle housing, so there was not leftover.

That sounds like you have poor gearbox seals, does the level rise? If so they need fixing. Did you clean the hydraulic strainer? Capacity is 9 gallons with or without hydraulics or PTO. Remember to do this on level ground (or take gradients into account).

Yes you might have a gearbox seal issue, did you check the level in the gearbox.
Only if you have a creeper box, you need more oil. About 40liters is the standard.

Thanks for the response.

The same minute I had poured on the 40 litres, I checked the level.
No running of engine.
Starting the engine, and no difference (as expected).
Raised and lowered the front lift, no change.

Two weeks later, level was the same, and I took of 4 - 6 litres.

The only reasonable explanation left is that the container had more than 20 litres, but it was two new, identical sealed container, and it is probably not reasonable.

I will just watch closely, and see what happen.
Will soon have to put on the snow blower.

I suspect it probably was the containers, you can always have such issues although I agree it's not common. Do keep an eye on it, otherwise you might miss something.
