Hi Guys, I'm contemplating buying another project, I've come across a Fordson wreck and the tanks stamped Fordson detroit, it looks like an F or N but with a buzz coil set up rather than a magneto. Does anyone know anything about these, the table lists an American production start date at about 1928 but I don't have an engine number. The machine is in very poor condition and maybe only good for the few parts left on it. I'd appreciate any info you can part with.Regards, Stevo IP: Logged |

Hello Stevo,When it is a tractor with a buzz coil it should be a Fordson F tractor. The later tractors are with magneto ignition. It should be something like this: . http://www.tractordata.co.uk/fordson_to_1950/pages/fordson/index.htm Good luck, do not pay to much and make sure it will not be put in the waste metal recycling. Hi Emiel, Thanks for the reply, from the site you gave me it would appear that fordsons were made in the UK before the US, seems strange as that would make the one I'm looking at post 1923 where as UK built models started around 1918. On another subject work continues on Milton the P6, I am about to reassemble the radiator after a complete strip and rebuild including water pump, I had to drill and retap vertually every bolt and stud as the rust was extream, Bugger of a job. But thats the last of the mechanical fix's, I've just got cosmetics to do. I'd love to post some pictures but I can't seem to get it right so I've given up on that idea. Hows your projects going?Regards, Steve IP: Logged |
